Typically, Iranians would welcome any opportunity to get together with family, relatives, friends, and acquaintances. Language is the unique and immovable element of all such associations.? It is very probable that while some families have been having a solid and sincere relationship with each other, a simple utterance in a single moment, perhaps during a friendly gathering, has overshadowed their relationship and created tension and even estrangement among them.

What is of significant importance in the family or friendly gatherings is not the matter of ?what to say? as most people do know what to say, or one could state that most people do know what they should say; however, it is the matter of ?how to say it? that becomes problematic most of the time. It has often been the case that while what someone says in a sitting is not actually unpleasant or offensive itself, but the way it has been expressed has offended the audience.

Therefore, the art of ?how to speak? is of the utmost importance when it comes to our social interactions.? According to experience, a significant part of the resentments and problems created in relationships have occurred under the influence of a jolly and joking atmosphere, which is typical of family and friendly sittings. Spending time and some other invisible expenses are necessary for building friendships and intimate relationships with others; therefore, one should not destroy them with a mere carelessness in speech.?

?In particular, the conditions of living away from our homeland have made the need to treasure our friends and safeguarding our close relationships an important necessity. So in order to stay away from the potential harms of language in various situations, we need to answer to the following questions: How should we speak? How should we establish a verbal communication with our friends, family, relatives, and acquaintances? How can we begin our speech in an attractive way? What is the effect of the tone of voice on the audience or addressee? What factors would make our speech pleasant and desirable? Most importantly, what are the acceptable topics for conversation and what are the topics one should avoid discussing? What manner of speech would create a sense of warmth and affection? And what kind of manners would create tension and irritation. These are all the questions related to the ?Courtesy and Manners of Speech?.?

One should learn to communicate efficiently, as an effective verbal communication makes it possible to utilize speech in order to convey knowledge and express needs successfully, to have a positive impact on others, and to connect with others through a communication bridge.
