Canada falls to Germany in men's water polo

Canada dropped a 12-8 decision to Germany on Saturday to remain winless at the Volvo Cup men's water polo tournament in Szekesfehervar, Hungary.

Montreal?s Devon Diggle of Montreal led Canada?s offence with two goals, while Nicholas Constantin Bicari of Montreal, Justin Boyd of Beaconsfield, Que., Kevin Graham of Regina, Aaron Feltham of Lindsay, Ont., Constantine Kudaba of Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Dusko Dakic of Gatineau, Que., added one each.

Canada (0-2) was down 9-8 late in the fourth quarter when it was handed a power play but couldn?t muster a single shot against Germany (2-0), which led 3-2 after the first quarter and 8-7 after three quarters.

Canada finished 3-for-11 with the man advantage, while Germany was an impressive 6-for-9.

Canada, ranked 10th internationally, closes out the event Sunday against world champion Italy (0-2) in a battle for the bronze medal. Hungary (2-0), which defeated Italy 11-8 on Saturday, will meet Germany for the gold.
